I remember the morning a few years ago when I excitedly sat down at my kitchen table to write the first of what would turn out to be a weekly email that would eventually become the basis for Choosing Up.
As I opened my heart and let people into my search for meaning in the everyday, I was surprised to find that they were actually listening. My modest list gradually doubled, tripled, and more than quadrupled in size, and it occured to me that, like me, people were searching for something more.
Choosing Up invites you to spiritually reframe your life using Torah as your guide. It is a practice in finding stories of hope with the purpose of bringing more wholeness to our lives and to the world.
While you can approach the book simply as a good read, I encourage you to use it as a springboard for your own inquiry into the relevance of Jewish wisdom, and even as a template to write your own stories (I’ll show you how in the book).
Ready to join me on the journey? I’ll see you out there!
A portion of the proceeds from Choosing Up go to The Village Shul, Toronto.
Choosing Up is a book that can change you. Not by renegotiating your aspirations, or hammering at your complacency. Instead, what it offers is a glimpse into what a pleasure making the right life choices can be. Rebbe Nachman said at the end, when we are weakened by the thousands of years of travail we have passed through as a people, all we will have left are the stories. Let this collection inspire you by its restating what you already know in your heart, and the stories of what the choices you make can mean.
